StrideWise 2.0 Is Here. And It’s a Whole New App.

Some apps get updates. StrideWise 2.0 got a complete reinvention.

When we launched the first version of StrideWise, we were proud of what we’d built. It was simple, honest, and did exactly what it promised: it showed you your steps. No ads, no data harvesting. Just your steps, clearly presented.

But underneath the surface, the code was showing its age. Legacy workarounds, outdated APIs, and a design that felt increasingly out of place on a modern iPhone. We could have patched it. We chose not to.

Instead, we started over.

Built from Zero

StrideWise 2.0 is a complete rewrite. Every single line of code, rebuilt from scratch for iOS 26, using Swift 6.2 and Apple’s latest frameworks. The result is an app that’s faster, more stable, and finally looks the way a step tracker should look in 2026, with Apple’s Liquid Glass design throughout. Translucent layers, depth, vibrancy. It feels like it belongs on your phone, not like it’s visiting.

If you never noticed anything wrong with the old version, good. That was the point. But you’ll notice the difference now.

Stats That Actually Tell You Something

The biggest change you’ll see is on the Stats page. The old single graph view has been replaced with five distinct views: Day, Week, Month, Y, and 12M, so you can look at your data the way that actually makes sense to you right now.

Training for something and obsessing over yesterday? Hit Day. Want to see how this week compares to last? Week. Curious whether February killed your annual average (it always does)? 12M has you covered.

This Year is your default, because that’s almost always what you want. The one exception: if you open the app in January, it defaults to 12M automatically. Because a “This Year” graph in January is just a single sad bar, and you deserve better than that.

Tap any bar in any graph and the exact number for that period appears immediately. No more staring at a refreshed average trying to do the mental math yourself.

What Hasn’t Changed

Everything that made StrideWise worth using in the first place is still here, untouched.

No ads. No tracking. StrideWise reads your steps from Apple Health, which your iPhone has already been counting accurately for years, and presents them in a way that’s actually useful. That’s the whole deal. It was the right approach in 2024 and it’s still the right approach now.

A Note on Getting Here

Shipping 2.0 took longer than we expected, because we refused to cut corners on the rebuild. There were moments where it would have been easier to patch the old code and call it an update. We’re glad we didn’t. What you’re downloading today is something we’re genuinely proud of: clean architecture, modern design, and a foundation that lets us keep building without fighting the codebase every step of the way.

Thank you for sticking with StrideWise. Now go take a walk. 🚢😜
